Santa Claus Cookie Tutorial

Santa Claus is working hard in the North Pole preparing for Christmas Day! Let's learn how to decorate a cookie to set out on Christmas Eve. In today's tutorial, you'll learn how to make Santa!

Materials needed:

~ Baked sugar cookies - You can get a similar cookie cutter HERE.

~ Royal Icing

~ Gel food coloring

~ brown, red

~ Round piping tip and a star tip

~ Edible thin tip marker - You can get it HERE.

~ Scribe

~ Piping bags

~ Piping coupler

~ Food safe paint brush

The royal icing consistencies should be as follows:

*Red royal icing - Medium consistency. You won't need as much of red.

*White royal icing - Medium consistency and medium to stiff consistency

*Brown royal icing - This is to make the skin color, to make a deeper complexion simply add more gel food coloring. Make this royal icing medium consistency.

Step 1

Make sure your baked cookie is completely cooled before adding any royal icing.

Step 2

Let's start with Santa's hat. Use the red royal icing and fill in the top half of the cookie.

Step 3

Next, using a round tip and light brown icing, pipe Santa's face in the middle of the cookie.

Step 4

Flood the rest of the cookie with the white medium consistency icing.

Step 5

Add a small little round of brown icing for a nose.

Step 6

Use the star tip and medium to hard white icing. Pipe a small shell boarder at the bottom of the hat. Pipe a pom at the top of Santa's hat. Oh, and don't forget his mustache!

Step 7

Now, you can add the face details. Use the white icing for eyebrows and to make swirls for Santa's beard. Take the thin edible marker and draw some smiling eyes. Finally, add a little bit of red to the edge of Santa's hat for some texture!
