What's one of the best things about fall? Taking long walks as the sun sets in the cool crisp air. Looking around and being surrounded by the changing leaves on trees. Thinking about the upcoming holidays and spending time with loved ones. Spend time together this fall and bake these adorable fall cookies!
Materials needed:
~ Baked square sugar cookies
~ Royal Icing
~ Gel food coloring
~ orange, brown, burgundy
~ Edible gold luster dust
~ Lemon extract
~ Food safe paint brush
~ Scribe
~ Round piping tip
~ Piping bags
~ Piping coupler
~ Edible food marker
For these designs, the orange, brown, and burgundy icing should be medium consistency. The piping for the wording should be a white toothpaste like consistency.
Step 1
Let cookie cool completely before adding any icing.
Step 2
Flood the entire cookie with your designated icing. Use the scribe to make corners sharper and to mix out any air bubbles. Let dry completely.
Step 3
Use scribe to etch in wording. You can always pipe the lettering on without etching but, I find that it helps me to keep the piping straight and in place! Pipe with white icing and let dry completely.
Step 4
Mix some of the gold luster dust with lemon extract. Paint the gold luster dust onto the white wording. Take the edible black food safe pen and draw some fall items onto the cookies - like leaves and pumpkins.
Step 5
That is it! The lettering may take some time, but as you practice, it'll get easier and you'll figure out what works best for you.
