Brush Embroidered Heart Cookie

This cookie is perfect to make for your loved one. Whether it is for Valentine's Day, an anniversary, birthday, this cookie is perfect for every occasion. It's also incredibly easy to decorate!

Materials needed:

~ Baked sugar cookies - You can get a similar cookie cutter HERE.

~ Royal Icing

~ Pink gel food coloring - You can get a pack HERE.

~ Scribe

~ Piping bags

~ Small round food safe paint brush

~ Water

The royal icing consistencies should be as follows:

*White royal icing - medium consistency

*Pink royal icing - medium to stiff consistency

For all of the icing, I simply cute the desired hole size at the tip of the piping bag. If you get any bubbles while piping, simply use your scribe or toothpick and smooth it out.

Step 1

Make sure your baked cookie is completely cooled before adding any royal icing.

Step 2

To give the cookie a frilly look, you'll want to put a pearl size royal icing all around the outside of the cookie. Dip your brush in a little bit of water, dab it onto a paper towel so that your brush isn't too wet. Then brush down on half of the pearl to create this look.

Step 3

Complete the entire perimeter of the heart.

Step 4

Flood the inside of the heart cookie slightly overlapping the frills. Let dry completely.

Step 5

Next, you'll want to make outlines of flowers onto the cookie. You can place them wherever, just make sure there is even space between the flowers. After you place the outline of the flowers, use your brush to brush in the outlines to the middle of the flower. You'll get the look below.

Step 6

To give more detail, add a little more of the brush embroidery technique inside of the larger flowers. Let the icing dry completely.

Wrap or gift in a cute box and give to a loved one!
