It's not Christmas... without candy canes! This is not your traditional designed candy cane. This design incorporates swirls and almost gives off an elegant look. It's much simpler than it looks, just follow the tutorial below!
Materials needed:
~ Baked sugar cookies - You can get a similar cookie cutter HERE.
~ Royal Icing
~ Gel food coloring
~ red
~ Scribe
~ Piping bags
The royal icing consistencies should be as follows:
*Red royal icing - Medium consistency.
*White royal icing - Medium to stiff consistency.
For this design, you do not need to use any specific type of tip. I simply the desired hole size at the tip of the piping bag. If you get any bubbles while piping, simply use your scribe or toothpick and smooth it out.
Step 1
Make sure your baked cookie is completely cooled before adding any royal icing.
Step 2
Next, flood the entire cookie with red royal icing. Use your scribe or toothpick to get any air bubbles out or to define the shape of the cane. Let harden.
Step 3
Next, outline the candy cane with white. Then, instead of stripes, add some swirl designs!
Step 4
For a little more texture, I added in some red lines in between each white swirl section. That's it... so easy, right?!
