Apple Pie Cookie Tutorial

Updated: Nov 29, 2020

Learn how to make the famous and delicious apple pie... in cookie form, of course! This design is also more of a simple design. It's quick and easy. Plus, it makes a great gift especially during the holidays!

Materials needed:

~ Baked sugar cookies

~ Royal Icing

~ Gel food coloring

~ green, brown

~ Scribe

~ Round, petal, and star piping tip

~ Piping bags

~ Piping coupler

~ Lemon extract

~ Food safe paint brush

The royal icing consistencies should be as follows:

* Green royal icing - stiff consistency - you will only need a very small amount of the green icing.

* Brown royal icing - medium consistency AND stiff consistency

Step 1

Make sure your baked cookie is completely cooled before adding any royal icing.

Step 2

Place some green royal icing in the middle of the cookie. Using a straight edge or scraper, scrape the green icing flat onto the cookie. Don't worry, it doesn't need to look neat!

Step 3

Next, using a round tip, fill the cookie as seen in the image below. Make sure to leave some open areas to show the "apple" mix underneath. Let the icing harden.

Step 4

Using the white icing and star tip, pipe a little right in the middle of the pie.

Step 5

Next, take the petal piping tip and make some ruffle like designs on the edge of the cake to create the crust. Let the icing dry completely.

Step 6

Finally, to give it an oven baked look, take some lemon extract and mix with the brown food coloring. Use the food safe brush and brush around the cookie.

And there you have it... an apple pie cookie. It looks just as delicious as a real pie!
